Cycle-2-School PLUS

Making Education Accessible, One Bicycle at a Time

About the C2S Plus Initiative

The Cycle-2-School (C2S) Nigeria project is a sustainable mobility initiative designed to improve access to education for underserved schoolchildren by addressing transportation challenges. Through the provision of bicycles, this program aims to reduce school dropouts, promote road safety, and foster environmental sustainability.

Our mission is to empower underserved communities by providing sustainable mobility solutions that enhance access to education, improve school attendance, and promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Pilot Phase

The pilot phase of the Cycle-2-School initiative will focus on Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos State.

  • 30 bicycles will be distributed to students across communities like Isheri, Iyana-Ipaja, and Baruwa.
  • The pilot will serve as a foundation to assess the program’s impact and guide future scaling efforts.

The pilot implementation process includes:

  1. Bicycle Collection: Partnering with Re-Cycle (Bike to Africa) to collect donated bicycles in the UK.
  2. Refurbishment: Restoring bicycles through technical partners to ensure safety and durability.
  3. Shipping to Nigeria: Importing bicycles to Lagos for local distribution.
  4. Beneficiary Selection: Identifying and pre-qualifying students in need.
  5. Distribution & Monitoring: Delivering bicycles to beneficiaries and ensuring proper usage through tracking systems.

Key Features of the Pilot

  • Technology Integration: Telematics devices on bicycles for real-time tracking and monitoring.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and corporate sponsors.
  • Impact Tracking: Baseline data collection to measure changes in school attendance, academic performance, and transportation costs.

Impact Goals

The pilot phase aims to:

  • Reduce barriers to education by improving mobility for students.
